ECOLOGICAL AWARENESS

Several animal and plant species, including humans, are at risk of disappearing due to accelerated environmental degradation. There is an urgent need to change attitudes and behaviour towards ecological balance. Raising awareness of protection and conservation among the young is the first step towards ensuring sustainability and as the saying goes, “mighty oaks grow from little acorns”. This project aims to sensitize primary and secondary schools located in the centre and surroundings of the city of São Domingos, Santiago Island to keep their school establishments clean and well-preserved through awareness actions regarding practical activities such as a cleaning campaign. This is an ecological competition and the school that stays clean and well-maintained for a certain period of time (3 months, for example) will be distinguished and awarded.

VALORISING 'MORNA'

Morna was recognized at the end of 2019 by UNESCO, as Intangible Heritage of Humanity. Now it is necessary to promote and publicize the musical style that belongs to ALL OF US (inhabitants of the Earth). São Domingos is the land of music and ‘morna’ par excellence, remembering that the artist ‘Ano Nobo’’ composed hundreds of ‘morna’ songs. Other new composers from São Domingos have followed and are following in the footsteps of the master Ano Nobo, composing mornas that need to be known and publicized. The project aims at the discographic recording of 10 (ten) ‘Mornas’ made and performed by musicians from São Domingos.

This project aims to identify two schools in the municipality of São Domingos, one in each parish (São Nicolau Tolentino and Nossa Senhora da Luz) and support them with various equipment from furniture, teaching materials, computer equipment with the aim of providing a better quality of teaching to children who study in these educational establishments.
